1. Classic Tteokbokki Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 pound of cylinder-shaped rice cake
- 3 cups of water
- 5-7 dried anchovies
- 3 x 3-inch dried kelp
- ½ onion
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon of sugar
- 2 tablespoons of gochujang (Korean red chili pepper paste)
- 1 tablespoon of gochugaru (Korean red chili pepper flakes)
- 1 green onion
- ½ cup of fish cakes
Instructions
- Soak the rice cakes in cold water for about 30 minutes.
- In a pot, add 3 cups of water, 5-7 dried anchovies, and 3 x 3-inch dried kelp. Bring to a boil and let it simmer for 15 minutes.
- Remove the anchovies and kelp from the pot and add ½ onion and 2 cloves of garlic. Let it boil for another 5 minutes.
- Remove the onion and garlic and add 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of sugar, 2 tablespoons of gochujang, and 1 tablespoon of gochugaru to the pot. Mix well.
- Add the rice cakes and fish cakes to the pot and stir until everything is evenly coated with the sauce. Cook for another 10-15 minutes until the rice cakes are tender.
- Garnish with chopped green onions and serve hot.
2. Cheese Tteokbokki Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 pound of cylinder-shaped rice cake
- 3 cups of water
- 5-7 dried anchovies
- 3 x 3-inch dried kelp
- ½ onion
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon of sugar
- 2 tablespoons of gochujang (Korean red chili pepper paste)
- 1 tablespoon of gochugaru (Korean red chili pepper flakes)
- 1 green onion
- ½ cup of fish cakes
- ½ cup of mozzarella cheese
- 2 tablespoons of milk
Instructions
- Follow the same steps as in the Classic Tteokbokki recipe until the rice cakes and fish cakes are cooked.
- Add ½ cup of mozzarella cheese and 2 tablespoons of milk to the pot. Mix well until the cheese is melted and the sauce is creamy.
- Garnish with chopped green onions and serve hot.
